Terms of Service

What Greenlit is
Greenlit is a security scanner for source code, offered as a public web scanner at greenlit.sh and as a GitHub App that checks pull requests. It is operated by Sara Czyzewicz, a sole proprietor in Massachusetts, USA (“we”). By using either, you agree to these terms and to the privacy policy.
Accounts, plans and billing
There are no Greenlit accounts. The GitHub App is installed through GitHub and paid plans are purchased through GitHub Marketplace, whose terms govern payment, renewal, refunds and cancellation. Public repositories are free. Private repositories require a paid plan; without one the app posts a non-blocking notice instead of a scan. Plan changes take effect when GitHub reports them to us, at the end of the billing cycle for downgrades.
Acceptable use
Scan only code you own or are authorised to scan. Do not use Greenlit to probe systems you do not control, to circumvent rate limits, or to submit content designed to interfere with the service or with the language model it uses. We may refuse or rate-limit scans to protect the service.
What a scan is, and is not
A scan reports the issues our rules and analysis detect at one commit. It is not a guarantee that code is secure, complete, or fit for any purpose. Scanners miss things and sometimes flag things that are fine. A “Ship” verdict means no blocking findings were detected, nothing more. You remain responsible for your code and for deciding what to merge or deploy.
Your code and reports
You keep all rights to your code. We clone it only to scan it and delete it when the scan finishes; details are in the privacy policy. Reports for public scans are shared at a permanent link and contain only findings with short, redacted snippets. You may share, quote or delete-request a report of your own repository by emailing us.
Availability and changes
Greenlit is provided as is, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We may change, suspend or discontinue any part of the service, and may change these terms by posting a new version here with a new effective date. Continued use after a change is acceptance of it.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data or goodwill, arising from your use of Greenlit. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us through GitHub Marketplace in the twelve months before the claim, or USD 100 if you paid nothing.
Termination
You can stop at any time by uninstalling the GitHub App or cancelling your plan through GitHub. We may suspend or end access for a breach of these terms or to protect the service.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and the United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Massachusetts.
